Faux Intellectual is many things, and serves many purposes.
First and foremost, It's a personal blog of mine which enables me to express my thoughts and feelings on topics that I’m interested in. These topics will typically fall within the broad categories of Politics, Philosophy, Religion, Entertainment, and STS (Science, Technology & Society).
The material that I post will generally cover subjects that I'm currently learning about. After garnering an adequate amount of information on a specific topic, I'll consolidate my knowledge and research into a post. The main motivator for me writing these posts stems from an attempt to parse through conflicting truth statements within public discourse, remedying cognitive dissonance, and to create a public informational repository for myself to refer back to in the future.
This blog also serves a secondary function of being an avenue for myself to work on my front-end web development skills. My primary professional work typically involves backend development and support, so having a creative outlet which enables me to create, expand, and maintain a cohesive website has served numerous professional and personal needs.
And lastly, at a more fundamental level, ‘Faux Intellectual’ is a rejection of the assertion that humans are NOT truth seeking beings. This site should hopefully provide evidence to the contrary. That there are people out there that do still value truth, and actively seek it out despite it potentially going against their preconceived idealized worldviews. That not everyone are the typical vocal, and highly passionate, commentators of highly complex topics; who simultaneously put in zero time and effort towards research or finding the truth of the matter behind anything. I feel that this is important as we're all currently living in an epoch defined by unrestrained and completely unregulated, misinformation, propaganda, lies, fake news, and cognitive dissonance.
This will remain a personal project of mine, but feel free to follow me on my journey, if interested.
